The Mission Committee selected three agencies which address three different healthcare needs for this year's Lenten Offering.
Our first recipient will be Mental Health in Motion. This group seeks to build understanding and empathy for mental health issues through dance presentations. They will expand on their mission by speaking in church and by presenting a workshop on March 6 at 7:00 pm.
Our second recipient will be CHIP (Child Health Investment Partnership). Every child deserves to start school ready to learn. CHIP attempts to do this programs that improve access to medical and dental care but also programs that teach parenting skills, foster mental health and develop kindergarten readiness.
Our third recipient will be the Bradley Free Clinic. They provide medical, dental, and behavioral health care as well as pharmacy to uninsured and underinsured persons. They have recently completed an addition to their clinic space to provide much needed mental health care.
It is our prayer during this season of Lent that you will feel compelled to give generously to these three nonprofits.

South Roanoke UMC Sanctuary
100th Anniversary Concert, featuring the
newly commissioned piano trio based on the hymn
O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES TO SING
Join us as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of South Roanoke United Methodist Church in a series of monthly activities, beginning with a Piano Trio concert Saturday evening, January 27, 2024, at 7 pm. Violinist Kevin Matheson and cellist Julia Goudimova will join Judy for a concert of music spanning the past 100 years, and the featured work will be a newly commissioned piano trio based on Charles Wesley’s hymn O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES TO SING. The concert is FREE, although an offering will be taken to support the concert series.
If you’ve never experienced a piano trio, come and enjoy a new experience! We’ll dedicate the wonderful new piano, hear a piece composed in 1923, and one “hot off the press.” We’ll also enjoy a trio by Dvořák (the composer of the New World Symphony) and an excerpt from Mendelssohn’s beloved violin concerto. A once-in-a-hundred-year treat! Come and bring a friend.
